What ShawanoCAD is — and isn't
An independent, community-built public safety dashboard for Shawano County.
ShawanoCAD monitors public safety radio traffic and turns it into a structured, searchable, real-time view of local incidents, units, and dispatch activity. Audio is transcribed and parsed entirely by a locally-run, open-source AI pipeline — no cloud speech services or paid APIs are involved.
How it works
- A scanner feeds live audio into a listener application, which detects individual radio transmissions.
- Each transmission is transcribed locally and run through a dispatch parser that extracts agency, units, call type, address, and priority.
- Structured incidents are published to this site instantly and appear on the dashboard, map, and live incident feed.
What this is not
ShawanoCAD is not an official emergency service, is not affiliated with any government agency, and should never be used to request emergency assistance. In an emergency, always dial 911.
Accuracy
Automated transcription and parsing can occasionally misread a transmission. Incidents are reviewed and corrected by an administrator when errors are reported — see the Support page to flag anything that looks wrong.
